MIKE HALL | APRA Member since 1997
Known throughout New Zealand as an incredibly versatile bass-player and musical collaborator, Mike has been an instrumentalist and co-writer in some of our best-loved bands.
After beginning a career in law, Mike abandoned the corporate world for life in a punk hardcore band – Balance – which went on to be signed by Japanese label, Howling Bull Records. He has played and recorded with The Brunettes, Dimmer, Pluto, Steve Abel, Reb Fountain, The Bads, Anna Coddington, Anika Moa, Tim Finn, Nightchoir, Voom and more recently SJD and Tami Neilson. Mike also composes music for short films and television, collaborating with Matthias Jordan and Jol Mulholland among others. His years as a player and co-writer have given him a unique perspective on the song-writing process, the dynamics of band existence and the realities of life as a full-time musician.
