Victoria-Large_SML-file.jpgWe are extremely pleased to announce the appointment of Victoria Kelly to the position of NZ Manager of Member Services. Victoria is well known in the New Zealand music industry for her work in both the contemporary classical world, as well as for her collaborations with some of the country’s most well known songwriters.

“We’re thrilled to have someone with Victoria’s experience join the APRA AMCOS team. She is of course a highly respected writer herself but also a very skilled communicator and organiser and will be a huge asset to the writing community.” Ant Healey – Head of NZ Operations

Victoria is excited about taking up the role in mid-November, and is looking forward to working closely with the APRA AMCOS membership.

"I became a Writer Full Member of APRA in 1992 - nearly 23 years ago. Over the years, I've presented workshops for APRA, written articles, performed at events, Music Directed the Silver Scrolls, even worked on reception back when the offices were in Parnell.
I feel incredibly lucky that we have such a dedicated team of people working so hard on our behalf as writers and I'm absolutely delighted to now be joining this team, furthering my knowledge of our unique and extraordinary industry and working in every way I can to support the thousands of brilliant, creative people who live and breathe music in this country.
I know from experience that writers face many challenges here in New Zealand, but I also know that we have many strengths, inspired voices and important things to say - so I'm looking forward to bringing my experience as a member and composer to this role, supporting and advocating for our music and helping to build and develop our community in all its diverse glory." Victoria Kelly

Victoria has won a number of awards for her music, which has been commissioned, performed and recorded by many of New Zealand’s leading performers and ensembles, including NZTrio, the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, the New Zealand String Quartet, Stroma and Michael Houstoun.

She also works in composition for film and television, and has and won two New Zealand Screen Awards. She was also the recipient of the inaugural APRA Best Original Music in a Feature Film at this year’s Silver Scroll Awards in Wellington.

Victoria has collaborated with some of New Zealand’s most renowned artists, including Neil Finn, SJD, Don McGlashan, Anika Moa and Shapeshifter. Last year she worked closely with Neil Finn, orchestrating songs for his solo album 'Dizzy Heights' and in November she joined him on tour to the US and England. Currently, she plays in SJD's live band and in The Bellbirds with Sandy Mill, Sean Donnelly and Don McGlashan.

In 2011, Victoria was the Music Director for the Opening Ceremony of the Rugby World Cup, which saw her working with more than 1200 performers, musicians and volunteers. The ceremony was broadcast live to an estimated audience of 1 billion people.

Alongside her musical prowess, Victoria is also renowned for her infectious positivity and organisation skills, skills that will be an asset to the organisation and the APRA AMCOS membership.
