New members elected to APRA and AMCOS boards

APRA AMCOS held two annual general meetings in Sydney today, and have welcomed three new members to our boards.

Malcolm Black joins the APRA Board as the New Zealand Writer Director, taking over from Don McGlashan, who is stepping down.

As a songwriter, Malcolm won the 1984 Silver Scroll Award with the Netherworld Dancing Toys for the track ‘For Today’. His career has since focused on the business side of music, and he worked as Director of A&R at Sony Music NZ and co-manager of Neil Finn and Crowded House before establishing licensing and digital company Les Mills Music.

After serving five years on the AMCOS Board, Marianna Annas, Manager of ABC Music Publishing, has also been elected to the APRA Board. An experienced music lawyer, Marianna has held senior legal and business affairs roles at major record labels and music publishers including BMG Entertainment in New York and EMI Music Australia. Marianna replaces outgoing board member David Albert of J. Albert & Son.

Jenny Morris and Ian James have been returned
as Chair and Deputy Chair of the APRA Board respectively.

An additional nomination in the APRA Australian Writer election was received from Alan Caswell who was not elected to the Board.

Additional nominations in the APRA NZ Writer election were received from Jan Hellriegel and Marshall Smith who were not elected to the Board.

Additional nominations in the APRA Publisher election were received from Jaime Gough, Peter Hebbes AM, Heath Johns, Simon Moor and Jess Ossington who were not elected to the Board.

Joining the AMCOS Board is Clive Hodson, Co-Managing Director of Perfect Pitch Publishing. Clive has previously held executive management positions with Polygram /Universal, ABC Music and Shock Music Publishing. He is also a songwriter and performer, and formerly sat on the AMCOS Board in 2007. Clive replaces outgoing board member David Albert of J. Albert & Son.

Ian James and Marianna Annas have been returned as Chair and Deputy Chair of the AMCOS Board respectively.
