APRA & Screen Composers Guild of NZ are proud to present a workshop with ex-pat NZ composer Chris White visiting from the UK.
Chris White is a composer and recording artist. A graduate of the UK National Film and Television School, his reputation as a composer has been strengthened by the success of many of the films he has composed for.
His most recent films include The Heart Machine (USA) starring Kate Lyn Sheil, and Map of Hell (USA) featuring Danny Trejo. Chris collaborated with the late director Mœbius on his final film La Planète Encore. Chris is also a long running composer on the hit Channel Four series The Supervet, as well as the Educating… series, most prominently with the BAFTA and Emmy winning Educating Yorkshire. Other major TV series includes, Alan Yentob’s Imagine, Heathrow: Britain’s Busiest Airport, and Liberty of London.
From 2010 to 2015, Chris toured and recorded as arranger and musician with Van Morrison, appearing on several of Van’s albums.
As an arranger, Chris has worked with a broad range of artists, from Van Morrison to Billy Ocean. His background as a touring musician writing and performing his own material as well as sharing stages with the likes of Van Morrison, Ray Charles, Paul McCartney and Joe Williams, mixed with his formal classical training, has meant exposure to influences that have been fused in his music to create an interesting and often unique voice.
This is a chance to hear from one of the best - and ask burning questions. As always it's also a chance to meet other musicians in a relaxed and informal environment. Light refreshments will be provided.
