EARLY PERFORMANCE REPORT PAYMENTS - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR APRA MEMBERS WHO HAVE PLAYED LIVE BETWEEN JULY 2019 AND APRIL 2020

Because of these uncertain times, and the financial hit our live performing members are taking due to Covid-19, we are bringing our Live Performance Distribution forward this year.

Instead of paying you in November, as we usually would, we are going to pay you for the 2020 period in our MAY DISTRIBUTION.

We are doing this with as much speed as we can muster, because we want to make sure you are paid at this critical time!

Many of you will be wondering how we are going to work out the payments, what you need to do, and when.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO?

IF YOU WERE PAID FOR YOUR LIVE PERFORMANCES IN NOVEMBER 2019 YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING!

We are going to use LAST YEAR’S DATA (2019) for this payment. The reason we are doing this is to prevent the majority of our members from having to suddenly pull together their live performance returns in a very short period of time. It means that we can get money into your pockets as quickly as possible.

2. BUT WHAT IF I HAVE ALREADY ENTERED LIVE PERFORMANCES FOR THE 2020 YEAR?

If you’ve been steadily entering your 2020 performances into our system as you’ve performed, then THANK YOU! This is the best process under normal circumstances. However, in the current - very unique circumstances - we are still going to use the 2019 data to pay you.

IF YOU WERE PAID IN NOVEMBER 2019 AND FEEL THAT YOU WOULD HAVE EARNED AROUND THE SAME AMOUNT THIS YEAR, YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING

3. BUT WHAT IF THINGS HAVE CHANGED BETWEEN 2019 AND 2020? I PLAYED WAY MORE GIGS THIS YEAR!

If you have played a significantly HIGHER volume of gigs in this most recent period, or if you have a residency somewhere and want to ensure that the volume of your performances is reflected in this payment, email us at nz@apra.co.nz with details of your gigs this year.

Put this in the subject line: HIGH PERFORMANCE SETLIST FOR WRITER PAID IN P1910 . DO THIS BY 9 APRIL. IF YOU ARE INCLUDING ANY NEW SONGS THEN YOU MUST REGISTER THEM BY 9 APRIL

4. I DIDN’T PERFORM OR GET PAID IN THE 2019 LPR DISTRIBUTION, BUT I’VE BEEN PERFORMING IN THIS PERIOD. WHAT ABOUT ME?

If you did NOT submit an LPR in 2019, but have been playing in the 2020 period, please contact us at nz@apra.co.nz to provide your gig info and setlists.

Put this in the subject line: LPR SETLIST INFORMATION FOR WRITER NOT PAID IN 2019 . DO THIS BY 9 APRIL. IF YOU ARE INCLUDING ANY NEW SONGS THEN YOU MUST REGISTER THEM BY 9 APRIL

5. I PERFORMED GIGS IN 2017, 2018 AND 2019, BUT I DIDN’T SUBMIT AN LPR. CAN I STILL DO THIS RETROSPECTIVELY AND GET PAID IN MAY?

Yes you can. But you’ll need to provide evidence - as per usual - to support any claims for 2017 and 2018. Email us at nz@apra.co.nz to provide your gig info and setlists.

Put this in the subject line: RETROSPECTIVE LPR SETLIST INFORMATION. DO THIS BY 9 APRIL. IF YOU ARE INCLUDING ANY NEW SONGS THEN YOU MUST REGISTER THEM BY 9 APRIL

WE ARE HERE TO HELP. ANY QUESTIONS? JUST EMAIL US AT nz@apra.co.nz

WE ARE WORKING HARD AND FAST TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN. WE KNOW IT'S NOT FAR AWAY, BUT THE APRIL 9 DEADLINE FOR NEW INFORMATION IS FINAL!
