SongHubs Ōtautahi: GUESTS ANNOUNCED AND applications open

MONDAY 22 MARCH - FRIDAY 26 MARCH 2021 | THE ARTS CENTRE - CHRISTCHURCH

APPLICATIONS CLOSE ON TUESDAY 9 FEBRUARY

SongHubs Aotearoa is a series of collaborative song-writing retreats that APRA AMCOS is presenting in five different locations across Aotearoa New Zealand during 2020 and 2021.

With the generous support and involvement of NZ On Air and the New Zealand Music Commission, we're delighted to be taking the program to Ōtautahi / Christchurch.

Curator Delaney Davidson has gathered some of Aotearoa's most beloved and unique creators -  Julia Deans, Troy Kingi, and Jol Mulholland - to collaborate with songwriters from Canterbury and around the country at The Arts Centre.

APPLICATIONS CLOSE ON TUESDAY 9 FEBRUARY

HOW DOES SONGHUBS WORK?

SongHubs is a week long song-writing program to be held at The Arts Centre in Christchurch from Monday 22 March to Friday 26 March 2021. Each day our curator (Delaney Davidson) will assign you a different group to write a song with. This group will consist of one of our guests, a producer, a 'lead' songwriter (for whom you're writing a song), and one other songwriter. These groups will each inhabit a separate studio space for the day.

Each songwriter will get the opportunity to be a 'lead' songwriter at least once, and will work with different guests during the week.

You also have the opportunity to work with a Mātanga Reo if you want to work in te reo Māori and would like specialist guidance.

A note about ownership:

At SongHubs, ownership of all songs is split equally between the creators in the room. We collect this information as each song is written.

The demo recording and demo stems are made available after SongHubs is finished, for participants' continued reference, and to facilitate the development of the songs.

However, any further/additional production work - and the use of SongHubs stems in a finished recording - needs to be negotiated independently with the producer of the track.
